Just an old DWF post for a sample. Might do a new one later if I feel creative.
--------------------------
{The camera opens in the middle of a match during a house show. Erik Dark is taking on the Jamie Wonder, another young kid trying to make it big in the DWF. However, the match seems a little one-sided, as Erik Dark has barely broken a sweat while Wonder is panting heavily.}
Dark: I think you could do with a few more laps when you train.
Wonder: Shut the hell up!
{Wonder lashes out at Erik, who blocks and counters with an Irish Whip into the ropes. On the return swing, Erik grabs Wonder and drops him hard to the mat with his Spinebuster. The crowd roars in anticipation, knowing the end is coming. Erik points to the turnbuckle, which gets an even bigger cheer from the crowd, then begins to ascend. At the top, he raises his right hand, then leaps off, connecting with a big Frog Splash. The crowd counts the pin and the bell rings.}
Announcer: And your winner, Erik Dark!
{Erik pumps his fist in the air, celebrating along with the crowd. He goes to leave the ring, then grabs a mike and comes back to the center. He waits for Wonder to leave the ring before speaking.}
Dark: Ah! Fresh blood. Always fun to have a match against. Anyways, I've got somethings to say, and I can't think of a better time to say it. First, Fusion, I think you got wax in your ears or something, because you really don't seem to understand what I said. Like about why you left. I don't know why.
{Erik shrugs his shoulders.}
Dark: But based on how you act, I could only assume that was the reason. Honestly, whatever the real reason is, I don't really care. Whether you left your family, or they left you, or anything else, the fact that you're here alone speaks volumes.
{The crowd is rather quiet at the heavier tones from Erik.}
Dark: I don't know about you, but I graduated college, married Crystal, and then my son was born. And Fusion, we had our own house, thank you very much. I had a decent programming job, but they aren't stable. So I took up wrestling to make a little money on the side. And I got addicted. I was wrestling almost daily at one point and training when I wasn't. It was really bad. So bad that my wife nearly divorced me about four years ago. But guess what? I turned things around. I wanted to take care of my son. I wanted to be with my wife. I gave up wrestling to do that. That's what was tearing us apart. So I gave it up, the thing I love the most, to be with the person I love the most. And I never regretted it. I only came back when everything was more stable, when we both we're okay with me stepping into the ring.
{Erik pauses for a second, thinking.}
Dark: I take back what I said earlier, Fusion. I do want to know your past. I want to see what drives you. For me, its love. Love of the fans, love for my family, love of the great sport of wrestling. What pushed you so far from home? And why did you bring it to the ring? Money? Fame? Had something to prove? Maybe trying to forget something?
{Erik shakes his head.}
Dark: Anyways, I know one thing that motivates you and that's respect. Seems a big deal to you if you don't get it. But you missed the point. I told you flat out how to get respect. I know no one respects you. And as long as you keep expecting these fans to give it to you, just because you're Fusion, you'll never get it.
{The fans cheer their assent.}
Dark: You have no respect for the fans. None of Systematic Destruction does. You guys think that the fans have to give you respect first. That they owe you for your work. Well, who do you think pays for your nice house and that paycheck you get. Look around me and you'll see who does.
{The fans roar at Erik's nod to their importance.}
Dark: And I sure as hell will break my neck for these fans. Wounds heal with time, Fusion. I know. I've dove through tables and over the ropes. I've fought on ladders and been driven off them. I've been blasted with brass knucks and hit with chairs. And you know what? I've gotten back up every damn time!
{The fans explode at Erik's exploit. Erik starts shouting over the crowd.}
Dark: You hear this, Fusion!? This is it! This what I live for! As long as you think that the title is more important then the fans, that its more important to win the belt then to entertain the fans, you are the one who does not deserve to hold that title!
{The cheers are deafening. Erik just smiles and basks in the adrenaline around him.}
Dark: Fusion, we have a difference of opinion. And come Monday, we will resolve that difference. I'll show you what gets respect. Maybe then you'll figure out what you need to do. Keep that belt shiny, Fusion. I want it to look the best for the fans when I raise it over my head after out match.
{Erik grins at his last jab and crowd roars as "Living on the Edge" starts up. Erik climbs the turnbuckles, enjoying every second of it.
